FB Live Tips and Tricks
From Emerald CP Holly Mote
The whole point of going live is to engage your audience and encourage comments, likes, and shares. There is a direct correlation between the amount of comments, likes, and shares you get on your videos and the number of views you get. The more you get the more times your video is shown in people’s news feeds.
#1. Make sure your privacy settings for your LIVE broadcast are set to “PUBLIC and ADD TO STORIES”
● When you make your Facebook Live video available to only your “friends” or “friends of friends’ you’re limiting the reach of your live broadcast or any post for that matter.
● You’ll get more people to jump on your live broadcast by making sure it’s public and adding it to stories which will show up at the top of your friends Facebook app
#2. Use the 6-7-8 Formula….. FB is a Social Platform. If you aren’t being social, FB deems you irrelevant.
Facebook rewards people who are engaging on their platform. Before you go live it’s important to go into your newsfeed and spend 6 minutes commenting on 7 – 8 posts in your news feed. Also, go thru your friends list, find people that aren’t distributors, and comment on one of their posts.
● This will give you an added boost in the Facebook algorithm and Facebook will reward you by showing your live broadcast higher in your friends’ news feeds.
#3. Comment on previous live videos that you’re going Live!
● This is easy to do but most people don’t think of it. Go back to 1-3 of your previous live videos and comment that you’re about to go live with a little tease of what you’re going to be talking about. All the people who commented on those previous live videos will get a notification that you just made a comment.
#4. Start a LIVE TRIBE
Find 3-4 friends or teammates who all go live and will commit to hopping on each other’s live broadcasts when free and comment/ 2 share the broadcast.
Create a Facebook group chat with your 3-5 person Live Tribe and notify each other when you’re about to go live.
People will do what they see other people doing!!!!!
#5. Check FB Messenger for when you have the most amount of friends active and go live during that time
#6. Finding Content and Create a Catchy Title.
Where do you find content? On the internet!!!! Find something you like and make it your own? Put your own spin on it! Brand it to fit YOU! Embrace the Glorious Mess You Are!!! It doesn’t have to be perfect!
Have an easy engaging description that evokes curiosity.
Bad Examples:
My Story
Checkout my NEW product
This is why I’m Successful
Join my Team
My Company is so awesome!
Morning Vibe
Omgoooodness!
Good Examples:

5 Foods you should stay away from to lose weight
Also, FB loves emojis…. Use one at the beginning and one at the end.
***DO NOT put a website in the description that will take people AWAY from FB.***
Always put links in the comments.
#7. Pin Comments
How to Pin a Comment…..
Make your comment and post it. Hold your finger down on the comment and a menu will pop up, click on Pin Comment. You can only Pin Comments during the LIVE broadcast not afterwards.
Use your phones “text replacement” to comment with a question and pin it? If you don’t know how then google “text replacement” for iPhone or Samsung.
Name them something simple like:
Q1: Who is your Crown Princess?
Q2: Comment with a “1” if you are watching me LIVE, Comment with a “2” if you are watching the Replay
Q3: Are you finding “value” hearing from some of the top leaders in the company? Type “yes” or “no”.
Q4: Do you open presents on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, or Both?

#8. Calls to action
People will only do what you ask them to do!
If you don’t ask them to comment, like, or share, they won’t. You want to make it simple for them to engage.
If you give points
Likes = 1 point
Comments = 2 points
Shares = 3 points
Your Goal for a FB Live Video is to get as many of your viewers to comment and like NOT just once but multiple times.
Ask “Questions that your audience doesn’t have to think about.
Example:
Where are you tuning in from?
Comment with a “1” if you are watching me LIVE, comment with a “2” if you are watching the replay. 2/3 of your views will be from replay.
If you are watching the Replay, type in the word REPLAY!
If you agree with what I just said drop me a number ____ .
Does that make sense? If it does drop your favorite emoji.
If you have ever experienced that, drop me a number ______ .
If you can relate, ___________.
If you know someone like that _________.
If you are picking up what I am putting down so far _________.
Ask closed questions? Make it relevant to your topic!!!
What is your favorite sports team?
What’s your favorite color?
Ask YES/NO questions?
Do you wear lipstick?
Drop me a Heart Emoji if you __________________.
#9. About 1-2 min into the live ask your viewers to click on the emoji’s and give you a firework show
I’ve found that facebook will notify more people about your current live broadcast if you have a bunch of people clicking the reaction emojis while you’re live. The best way to get your live viewers to click on the emojis is to ask them to! Also you could ask them a question like ‘Are you excited to learn this?’ if you are click on the heart button a bunch of times.
Click on the thumbs up button if ___________.
Click on the heart button if __________.
#10. Encourage your live viewers to invite people to your broadcast and share it if they think others will get value too
● During the beginning and middle of your broadcast, ask your viewers to share the video on their timeline/page if they think the friends or followers can benefit. 4
● Pro Tip: Give full name shoutouts to anyone who shares the broadcast and ask them to type in the Word “SHARED” after they share in the comments which also creates what I call a “jones affect” where people see that others are sharing your video and will want to do it too.
#11 Don’t Go LIVE forever!!!
Keep your videos short! Less than 15 minutes!
Don’t do your entire makeup and skincare routine, do a small portion.

Eyes
Brows and Blush
Lips and Lashes
Evening Skincare Routine
Showcase a couple products
#12 Don’t make every single live about your business!
Talk about other things you are passionate about.
Weight loss
Family
Marriage
Cooking
Organizing
